Bayon looks like Rock Mountain for me Bayon is stands really center of the Angkor Tom, symbolized celestial Mountain Meru. This temple is famous for large faces of Avalokitesvara with a smile playing about their lips and vivid expression of bas-reliefs.
Face of the Buddhisattva Lokesvara On the upper level there are over 200 large faces of Avalokitesvara carved on the 54 towers. We encircled big faces with smiles; never escape from their lips of smiles. It was miraculous experience for me. |
Outer Gallery without roof Although there are two Galleries of the Bayon, outer bas-reliefs are more interesting than inner one. Cooking, fishing, shopping, eating, fighting and so on, human daily life are depicted. Don't be hurry.

Leper King Terrace As the palace and another houses for human living were built of wood in the Angkor Dynasty, there are no building remained without stone constructions for gods.
300m long this terrace was used for royal reception pavillions |
