    Omachi city, located almost in the center of the Mainland of Japan, is closely surrounded by mountains. Especially from the north to the west of the city, line up high mountains over 2500 meters above the sea which are called the Northern Japan Alps.

    Omachi Alpine Museum

    Omachi Alpine Museum was established half way up an eastern mountain in the city in 1951 with the enthusiasm of the citizens. It exhibits the various outcome of investigation and study about animals, plants and mountaineering of the Northern Japan Alps.

    Omachi Alpine Museum

    The existing building was reconstructed in 1982.
    It now consists of exhibition halls, an observatory and small zoological garden.

    Open : 9:00 - 16:30 ( Every day Apr.1 - Oct.31 )
    Closed : Every Monday and Dec.29 - Jan.3

    Admission Fees
    Adult : 400 Yen
    High school student : 300 Yen
    Elementary and Junior high school pupil : 200 Yen
