15 minutes run by bicycle from old Bagan, Sulamani Temple is famous for its wall paintings.

Dhammayangyi Temple

King Narathu : 1163-1165
Unfinished huge temple Dhammayangyi; there is for certain reasons. Narathu usurp the throne by assassinate father king and his elder brother. After enthronement he began to erect this temple in compensation for his sin. But later he was assassinating himself too, and construction was discontinued.

To know the story I felt something weird of this temple. Although exterior is strong and beautiful, inside hall is dimly lit and stink of droppings. Yes, small bats in place the temple.

Manuha Temple

Built by "Captive King" Manuha in 1059

Manuha Temple

You know King Anawrahta brought back King of Thaton Manuha in 1057. Later Manuha allow built his temple in the village of Myinkaba.

Three sitting Buddha images and one reclining Buddha are pushed in the hall. It looks like they feel cramped in a confined space.

So to speak they represent of the Manuha's circumstances and mental state.

Mingalazedi Pagoda

King Narathihapate : 1256-1287
This is the last Pagoda completed in Bagan Dynasty. 10 years later, Kublai Khan invaded Bagan. The Dynasty was sustained losses and never comeback.
