King Narathu : 1163-1165 Unfinished huge temple Dhammayangyi; there is for certain reasons. Narathu usurp the throne by assassinate father king and his elder brother. After enthronement he began to erect this temple in compensation for his sin. But later he was assassinating himself too, and construction was discontinued.
Principal Buddha image in Dhammayangyi Temple To know the story I felt something weird of this temple. Although exterior is strong and beautiful, inside hall is dimly lit and stink of droppings. Yes, small bats in place the temple. |

King Narathihapate : 1256-1287 This is the last Pagoda completed in Bagan Dynasty. 10 years later, Kublai Khan invaded Bagan. The Dynasty was sustained losses and never comeback.
