Shwe Dagon Pagoda

The holy golden monument, Shwe Dagon Pagoda is the most sacred site in Myanmar; stand on the hill to north part of central Yangon. According to legends, originally stupa was built for the house of eight hairs of Buddha 2500 years before. Later it has been rebuilt many times bigger and more splendid reflected religious people. Now we can see the huge stupa rise nearly 100m above the base and is 433m around.

There are four covered walkways up to the pagoda I paid 5US$ and entered from most popular southern entrance. I amazed Shwe Dagon Pagoda is not one huge stupa, there are many kind of holy monuments, mausoleums, small stupas, temples, shrines and statues around the pagoda. Walked heat pathway around clockwise pass through the northwest corner I noticed people eagerly praying. There is Wish-fulfilling place where praying that their wishes come true.

Women sweepers

When visiting holy places in this country we have to take our shoes and socks off before enter. Marble paved area is painful hot by day and some of them are dusty to hard to walk by barefoot especially in the countrysides.

But Shwe Dagon Pagoda is special. I surprised the large area was so clean and tidily. When evening came riddle was solved women began to sweep the floor in formation. As sweep in rank was amazing sight they were flooded flash of visitors camera.

White House Hotel

After on day trip to Mt.Popa I returned Yangon by night bus from Bagan. I heard breakfast of White House Hotel was so delicious in economical guesthouses in Yangon I decided to stay there for last few days in Myanmar.

Various handmade jams

Located 7 minutes walk from Sule Pagoda in central I checked into neat room, with air-condition and bath, costs 10 US$ for night.

Look forward breakfast served on the rooftop restaurant, various handmade jams and two kinds of flesh juices delighted my tang. "It's so delicious!"

Although a fens is obstructive in your way you can see Yangon River and sunset view from there.

Sule Pagoda

Light uped Sule Pagoda
There is no doubt Sule Pagoda stand really center of Yangon town, in other words Yangon town built around this Pagoda where is said to enshrine a hair of Buddha. The history is similar to Shwe Dagon Pagoda I felt Sule is more popular reflected of its location.
